Assistant City Manager
City of Tucson

Liz Rodriguez Miller is a native of this community, born and raised in South Tucson.  She has been Assistant City Manager for the City of Tucson since 1996, the only Hispanic woman to hold the position of Assistant City Manager. Liz began her work in government as a Librarian at the South Tucson Library trailer in 1978.  She held various positions with the public library system in Tucson, specializing in Library Service to the Spanish-speaking community.  In 1991, she was named Director of the Tucson Pima Public Library system, again serving as the only Hispanic to hold that position. Liz holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from the University of Arizona. She has been involved in various community activities throughout the years, currently serving as President of the UA Hispanic Alumni and as a member of President Likins Hispanic Advisory group. Liz believes strongly in the importance of education and family; she credits her mother, grandmother, husband and children with giving her the encouragement and motivation to pursue many goals. She believes the Tucson community has been very supportive of her efforts as a Hispanic woman in government, and she seeks opportunities to give back to the community and make a positive difference.
